Maintenance: quick links
Specialist Energy can help you with all of your maintenance and operational needs. Many PV systems were installed during PV tariff "rush periods" by inexperienced companies who did the work in a hurry... Poorly specified or installed equipment can lead to premature failure or in the worst case, serious risk to your home or business.
We offer a range of services that will ensure your equipment is safe, and operating efficiently. We can help you with the following services... You can also head over to our maintenance contracts or pricing pages for typical costs...
Cheap inverters are quite often a very unwise choice, for many reasons. Some are not rated for mounting on wood, and many cheaper brands can sometimes render the safety protection on your fuse board useless. We offer a fixed price inverter swap service, just head over to our PRICING page
Regular maintenance and safety checks lead can help keep your system healthy, and if your system is insured, will mean you are complying with your contract terms, which usually ask for any array to be kept in good working order, and following your equipment manufacturers guidance. Showing you have had your panels tested will help you in the event of any insurance claim or fire in your property.
Get your PV system fitted with online monitoring so you can be alerted to faults as soon as they happen, as well as see how well your system is performing from wherever you are.
Cleaning your panels is often worthwhile doing on an annual basis, especially if you are on a higher tariff from around 2011 - 2013. Even a 5% loss of output from dirty panels would mean an annual cost saving when the panels are cleaned annually.
Solar PV Maintenance
Solar Thermal (Hot Water) Maintenance
Solar thermal systems have unfortunately suffered from a fair amount of mis-selling and poor installation.
We offer a range of services that will ensure your equipment is safe, and operating efficiently. We can help you with either minor check-ups or full services ... You can also head over to our maintenance contracts or pricing pages for typical costs... Some companies do little other than "top up" the antifreeze - we offer a far more comprehensive offering when we do a full service.
An annual service will take around 30 minutes - we will simply check pressure levels and antifreeze protection, plus ensure the controller is set up properly. Because it is a short service to try and keep costs down we will give you a ring when we are in the area rather than make a special journey.
A full service covers: drain down and flush of the system, check expansion vessel pressure and re-pressurise if required, refill with antifreeze to protect the system to -25 degrees, check system controller settings and adjust as required. Our pricing covers the cost of the new antifreeze, but does not cover any other parts
Heat pump maintenance
An annual service will take around 1-3 hours - we will simply check all the points listed in the manufacturers maintenance instructions, so you can be sure your service will comply with their warranty conditions. No materials are included in the price of the service. Annual services rarely pick up any major faults - see below
if there was something seriously wrong the chances are you will be getting error messages on the controller screen, and you will be ringing for a repair. Some repairs require a Refrigeration engineer with F-Gas qualifications. If you get warning messages on low or high pressure in the system, please let us know when you contact us.
